School Trips & visitors to school

'The very wide range of out of school activities, visits and visitors provides very good opportunities for pupils to extend their learning and develop new skills and talents.' Ofsted

Off site educational visits play a significant part in the development of children and young people. School trips enhance and bring to life the teaching of the National Curriculum through first hand experience of buildings, artefacts, wildlife, contrasting locations and environments which may not be able to replicated in the classroom. Such experiences enrich the understanding of, empathy with and enjoyment of the curriculum. The cost of these activities is largely met by parents. Some trips or events are financed directly by school or the PTA. In the event of parents being unable to contribute to the cost the trips or visits, no individual child would be excluded as a result, however the visit may have to be cancelled if it cannot be financed by contributions and school funds. Any parents who are unable to contribute should contact the Headteacher directly. The school takes year 6 to the Robinwood centre, Dobroyd Castle for a three day residential visit. Apart form having far too much fun with friends, we feel the residential trip particularly develops; self esteem, character, confidence, team spirit, trust and independence. For many children this will be their first experience of life away from home. A wonderful opportunity.
