COVID

For education and childcare settings from Friday 1 April:

Regular asymptomatic testing is no longer recommended in any education setting. Children who are unwell with symptoms of a respiratory infection should stay at home and avoid contact with other people.

Symptoms of a respiratory infection include:

  • continuous cough
  • high temperature, fever or chills
  • loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell
  • shortness of breath
  • unexplained tiredness, lack of energy
  • muscle aches or pains that are not due to exercise
  • not wanting to eat or not feeling hungry
  • headache that is unusual or longer lasting than usual
  • sore throat, stuffy or runny nose
  • diarrhoea, feeling sick or being sick

Your child can return to school when they are well enough to attend and no longer have a high temperature (if they had one).

  • If your child tests positive for COVID they should stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 3 days following a positive COVID test result. This starts from the day after they did the test. They should continue to stay off school until they have recovered and no longer have a temperature (if they had one).
  • Free COVID testing for the general public is no longer available.
